Update on August and September Events at the Grand Pavilion

We would like to thank our loyal customers and the local community for their continued support and understanding during these challenging times as we deal with the ongoing impact of COVID-19 on the Grand Pavilion.

In light of the most recent guidance and the road map to recovery published by Welsh Government, we have taken an early decision to reschedule or cancel all large scale events that were due to take place in August and September this year.

As one of the first to close, it is highly likely that theatres will be among the last places to fully reopen as the coronavirus lockdown is lifted. Even the ‘green’ stage, when cultural activities may be permitted “with precautions in place”, makes the timing and likelihood such, that August and September bookings would come too soon.

We believe that by acting promptly and proactively, we can give our staff, patrons, performers and promoters the certainty that we will only operate once it is safe to do so, and in such a way that gives us the time to prepare a working and social environment that complies with the very latest Public Health Wales. As a venue very much in tune with the community, we would also wish to support the safety of our local residents here in Porthcawl and the wider county borough of Bridgend.

If you have bought tickets for a show which will now be rescheduled or cancelled, please bear with us until we contact you. The person who booked the tickets will be contacted by email in the first instance, with a range of options on what to do next.

If you did not provide an email address, the one you supplied is no longer valid, or you do not respond to our email, we will telephone you or send a letter. We appreciate your patience whilst we deal with hundreds of customers.

We are very much looking forward to a time when we can reopen our doors and welcome you back to the Grand Pavilion once again. Until then, please continue to follow our social media channels for the very latest news and ways in which you can support us through this challenging time.

Thank you.
