Bear: A New Audio Play
Bear is a play for voices, written, performed and directed by local talent.
The play will be available to listen to for one week from Friday 19th February.
Written by Jon Berry, directed by Jack M. Dunbar
A missing girl. Endless rain. The first sighting of a polar bear.
As the world begins to turn on them, a family begins to implode, impossibly slow and all at once.
Bear is a play about loss, blame, and how people come together or fall apart in times of need.

‘Bear was conceived by welsh playwright Jon Berry and had undergone an R and D process with a different group of artists before considered as a Fringe show with Director Jack M Dunbar.
Jack and Jon assembled a team of actors in early 2020, and with a week long stint secured at an Edinburgh venue, they were ready to head to the Scottish capital. Sadly, the rest is history. Throughout the pandemic they met as a creative team and continued to rehearse and discuss the piece virtually, but the length of the pandemic took its toll and the viability of a live production at a venue vanished.
Now, one year on from the original planning, the team decided ‘enough is enough’ and with some dedication and help from Awen Cultural Trust they decided to create the stage play into an audio drama. The piece will feature all four original actors cast for the Fringe run (Jack Ayres, Meredith Lewis, Yasemin Ozdemir and Max Reid), with some wonderful animation provided by Cardiff based motion designer Emma Davies.’
